About winery

On the plateau above the village of Vrbnik, under the shelter of Dinara and just seven kilometers from Knin, lies the estate of PZ “Vrbničko selo.” This area, rich in history and tradition, is home to vineyards that thrive despite the harsh, rocky soil, while the abundant sunshine provides perfect conditions for growth. The name “Burnum” originates from the Roman military camp established at the beginning of our era, the remains of which, in the form of two arches, are still preserved at the entrance to the village of Ivoševci. These historical arches now grace the wine labels of this winery, symbolizing the connection between past and present. On this plateau, 30,000 vines have been planted. In collaboration with top winemakers from Slovenia’s Goriška Brda, an ecological wine production was initiated. All wines carry the EU organic certification, reflecting a commitment to sustainable cultivation and high quality. From the very beginning, the winery specialized in the production of premium cuvées, blending indigenous varieties such as Pošip, Babić, and Maraština with international classics like Chardonnay, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Marselan, and Carmenère. Among the first in Croatia, it produced sparkling wine from the Babić variety using the traditional bottle fermentation method. The White Cuvée combines Pošip, Maraština, Chardonnay, and Viognier, while the Red Cuvée brings a harmonious blend of local Babić and Plavac Mali with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Carmenère. The carefully selected ratios are meticulously determined by oenologist Miodrag Huškar, creating wines with a distinctive character and a unique terroir.
