Cota Winery

The story of the Cota winery begins with Grandfather Marko, who returned to his native Croatia from America in 1911. Upon his return, he planted vineyards around the picturesque village of Oklaj, located near the Dalmatian coast and the magnificent Krka National Park. With his own hands, he built a cellar 3.5 meters underground and a small stone house, laying the foundation for the family’s winemaking tradition. Today, Petar Cota, the fourth generation of winemakers in the family, faithfully continues the natural approach to viticulture, nurturing authentic grape varieties and the heritage of his ancestors. The winery offers four wine labels: Pero j’Dero – a blend of three red varieties: Merlot, Babić, and Lasina ; Lapacha – an elegant rosé wine made from the Babić variety ; Baba Manda – a harmonious blend of the indigenous Debit and Maraština varieties in a 50:50 ratio ; T’Jacques – a combination of Merlot and Syrah, reflecting the character of the Dalmatian terroir. With a deep love for the land and vines, the Cota family continues to write a story that began over a century ago.
