Deak Winery

Deak Winery is located in Opuzen, a picturesque Dalmatian town in the heart of the fertile Neretva Valley, and is part of the Komarna winegrowing region—an area renowned for its exceptional terroir, particularly suited to the indigenous varieties Plavac Mali and Pošip. The project began in 2011 when the owner, Damir Deak, reclaimed 12 hectares of karst land in the Kremena area, transforming it into fertile soil for the establishment of ecological vineyards and olive groves. Today, the vineyards cover an area of 3 hectares. In 2015, a modern winery was opened in Opuzen, divided into two functional parts: one for grape processing and the other for wine aging and storage. Additionally, the winery includes a laboratory for precise monitoring of fermentation and aging processes. Production involves controlled fermentation and traditional aging methods in 225-liter barrique barrels made of French, American, and Croatian oak. In 2020, Deak Winery opened its own wine bar along the Adriatic Highway, two kilometers before the Pelješac Bridge. Nestled in a natural setting with a breathtaking view of the Neretva Channel, the sea, and nearby islets, the wine bar offers visitors a unique experience, including wine tastings and presentations of the winemaking process. Today, the winery produces ten wine labels made from Plavac Mali and Pošip—including dry, semi-dry, semi-sweet, and dessert wines, such as the traditional Prošek—demonstrating its commitment to quality and the rich winemaking heritage of Dalmatia.
