About winery

In the bay of Poganica on the island of Šolta lies the impressive vineyard of the Kalebić family, managed by owner Robert Kalebić. Spanning 20 hectares and hosting an impressive 140,000 vines, it is one of the largest vineyards in Dalmatia. The vineyard cultivates both indigenous and international grape varieties, including the Šolta-native dobričić, plavac mali, crljenak, merlot, pošip, chardonnay, and viognier. Among the red varieties, dobričić stands out as the most prominent, a native Šolta variety rescued from near extinction thanks to vineyards like this one. The vineyard preserves traditional features such as bunje—round, dry-stone field huts. Olive trees are planted along the edges of the vineyard, protecting the vines from salt damage and promoting sustainability. At the prestigious International Wine Challenge, their white wine Gaštald Pošip 2018 earned a silver medal, further cementing the reputation of their exceptional production. The Kalebić family is represented on the market with nine wine labels, with wines made from dobričić being particularly cherished. Through their dedication, the indigenous dobričić variety has been restored to its rightful place in Dalmatian winemaking heritage. There are plans to build a modern wine cellar, winery, and tasting room, which will further enhance the Kalebić family’s offerings. Currently, the grapes are processed in Slavonia at the renowned Galić Winery facilities.
