Dubrovački podrumi Winery

The history of the Dubrovački Podrumi Winery dates back to 1877 when it was founded under the name Podrum Pero Kolić. Located in Gruda, in the Dubrovnik hinterland, the winery expanded in 1963 with the construction of the Gruda Winery, equipped with then-modern technological solutions and a capacity of 250 wagons. By the late 1970s, its vineyards covered 157 hectares in the Konavle valley. Unfortunately, during the Croatian War of Independence in 1995, the winery and its vineyards were devastated and burned. The early 2000s marked the beginning of its restoration and the replanting of vineyards. By 2019, Dubrovački Podrumi d.d. managed 35 hectares of its own restored vineyards and 70 hectares in cooperation with local winegrowers in the Konavle region. The winery cultivates indigenous grape varieties such as Plavac Mali, Crljenak, and Dubrovnik Malvasia, as well as international varieties including Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery offers 10 wine labels: two whites – Dubrovačka Malvasija and Chardonnay, and eight reds – Crljenak, Crljenak Rosé, Syrah, Syrah Rosé, Trajectum (cabernet sauvignon), Plausus (Plavac Mali from steep vineyards above Cavtat), Merlotina (Merlot from vineyards planted in 1979 in the Konavle valley), Parac (a classic blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon with a touch of Plavac Mali), Plavac Mali, Merlot Grande Reserve, and Cabernet Franc. Within the winery, an elegant tasting room with a capacity of 65 guests has been designed, offering visitors an authentic experience of traditional viticulture and winemaking in the Konavle region.
