Jerković Winery

Jerković Winery, located in Runovići in the heart of the Imotski region, was founded in 1998 as a small family winery. Today, it is run by Mate Jerković, the heir to the family tradition and a passionate winemaker who has elevated the winery to a new level. Specializing in two indigenous grape varieties – Kujundžuša and Trnjak – the winery takes particular pride in its red wine Trnjak, named after the mountain micro-location Mračaj in the Imotski vineyards. After studying in Osijek and Zagreb, Mate Jerković decided to continue his father’s dedication to viticulture. He firmly believes that their Kujundžuša is among the best in the world. Now, he proudly manages the winery, determined to fulfill his father’s dream of expanding the vineyard to an impressive 20 hectares, for which he has already secured a concession. Currently, he cultivates around 5,000 vines of Kujundžuša, but plans to increase production to 150,000 bottles, with 80% of the vineyard planted with Kujundžuša and 20% with Trnjak. With the construction of a new winery, he will further enhance this family wine story, remaining true to the tradition started in old stone houses from 1936.
