Kaštelanac Winery

The Kaštelanac Winery, located in Gornje Selo on the island of Šolta, is a family-owned winery with a tradition dating back to 1762, when their ancestors produced wine from the Dobričić variety using traditional methods. Through years of hard work and patience, they have developed this incredible wine story, driven by the desire to preserve their native Dobričić grape. In their vineyards, they also grow other varieties such as Maraština, Crljenak, and Plavac Mali. Dobričić, an ancient red wine variety native to Šolta, is one of the most important indigenous red varieties of Dalmatia. It was crossbred with Crljenak Kaštelanski (known as Zinfandel in the rest of the world) to create Plavac Mali. They are present on the market with four labels: Famija, a blend of Plavac Mali, Dobričić, and Crljenak; Villa Superior, a wine made from Dobričić; Priženca, a rosé from Dobričić; and Maraština. In addition to wine, they also produce extra virgin olive oil. Their products can be tasted at their winery, where wine tastings are held.
