About winery
Matijević Winery is a small family-owned winery located on the southern slopes of the island of Hvar. All vineyards are situated in the micro-location of Sveta Nedjelja – Jagodna, on steep terrains with a 45-degree incline. The vines are cultivated entirely by hand, without the use of artificial fertilizers, following a natural approach to viticulture. The Plavac Mali Matijević wine, grown on these sun-drenched Hvar slopes, achieved remarkable success at the 20th Decanter World Wine Awards in 2023, winning a gold medal with an impressive score of 95 points. This wine had already been recognized in previous years—twice awarded silver at Decanter and once bronze at the International Wine Challenge—confirming its consistent quality and excellence. They also offer a rosé wine made from Plavac Mali and a white wine labeled from the Bogdanuša grape variety.
