Mimica Winery

The Mimica Wine House, also known as the “House of the Happy Man,” was built on the foundations of a once-powerful family estate dating back to 1714. In addition to the renowned and protected Mimički Plavac, it was among the first Dalmatian wineries to begin revitalizing the indigenous Tribidrag variety. The winery’s name is inspired by the historical inscription “GRATIAS AGO TIBI DNE QUIA FUI IN HOC MONDO” (“Thank you, Lord, for allowing me to be in this world”), which adorns the entrance of a well-known house in Omiš. Alongside Mimički Plavac and Tribidrag, the winery also offers labels such as Ruža Omiška and Mirabella. The vineyard consists of more than 25,000 grapevines—8,000 are located in Svinišće, on the northern slopes of Omiška Dinara near the clear and fast Cetina River, while the remaining 17,000 vines thrive on the sun-drenched southern slopes near the sea. In the winery’s vineyards, nine vines of the indigenous Tribidrag variety, known locally as Crljenak, were discovered. Recently, a wine shop was opened in Makarska, where visitors can taste and purchase the full range of Mimica wines.
