The Gabelić family, owners of the Pinjata winery and tavern, proudly continues a centuries-old winemaking tradition in the historic center of Vrboska on the island of Hvar. The winery’s name comes from the family nickname, and the entire area near the fortress is known as Pinjatini dvori. Owner Marija Gabelić, along with her son Vinko, the sixth generation of winemakers in the family, runs this family business. Marija’s husband Ivica, now retired, spent his career as an oenologist at Dalmacijavino, enriching the family tradition with his expertise and knowledge. Marija emphasizes that, over the decades, the family has exclusively produced wines from indigenous varieties, preserving the authenticity of Hvar’s terroir. Since 1995, the Pinjata winery has been bottling its wines. Today, their vineyards grow native varieties such as Bogdanuša, Plavac Mali, and Parč, producing up to 40,000 liters of premium wine annually.
