Prgin Winery

Boutique winery Prgin is located in the small village of Bilina, in the Primošten hinterland, where the tradition of winemaking is nurtured in a restored old local school. Founder Ivana Prgin Horvat, after years abroad, decided to return to her roots and, together with her husband Domagoj, dedicate herself to wine production. On two hectares of vineyards, most of which are located in the world-renowned Bucavac vineyards, she cultivates the indigenous Babić variety. Winery Prgin takes pride in its wines, Babić and Opolo, which have won over enthusiasts of this Dalmatian grape. The aging process takes place in 500-liter wooden barrels made of Croatian and American oak, preserving the original varietal character of the wine. Annual production amounts to approximately 13,000 liters, with 5,000 liters being premium Babić, while the total winery capacity reaches 20,000 bottles. Although relatively new to the market – with its first vintage in 2016 – the winery has quickly gained recognition among Babić lovers, with Primošten Babić from Bucavac standing out as truly exceptional. In addition to Babić, the winery also cultivates Debit, whose potential is seen in the production of sparkling wine and prosecco—light and refreshing wines that are increasingly in demand. The winery’s visual identity was designed by Mirna Ptiček, who successfully combined two local traditions on the label – the ‘golden stone’ from Bucavac and a vine intertwined in the shape of a rooster, symbolizing the Prgin family.
