About winery

Stina, one of Dalmatia’s leading wineries, was founded in 2009 and is located right on the waterfront in Bol on the island of Brač. Its building, constructed in 1903, stands as a symbol of history and tradition, leased from the local winegrowers’ cooperative. The building’s original purpose was to facilitate wine transport by ships, explaining its coastal location—common on Dalmatian islands and in places like Porto or Cognac. Stina takes pride in its portfolio of wines based on indigenous Dalmatian varieties such as Plavac Mali, Pošip, and Vugava. The crown jewel of their collection is the Single Vineyard Plavac Stipančić, named after one of Croatia’s most stunning and steepest vineyards. With nine labels on the market, Stina offers a diverse range of styles and qualities. Their vineyard, situated on 50 hectares at an altitude of 500 meters, boasts 350,000 vines. The winery’s production area features modern stainless steel tanks and fermenters, along with two barrel-aging rooms, one of which is housed in an imposing cement tank dating back to the Austro-Hungarian era. While white wines are aged in older barrels, red wines mature in a combination of new and used barrels, predominantly French oak, with limited use of Slavonian oak. The winery’s front area has been transformed into an elegant tasting room adorned with drawings from Stina’s signature white labels and a geological cross-section of Brač’s soil. Additionally, a VIP dining room provides a unique experience of wine tradition and quality. Bogondon is one of the most iconic labels in Stina Winery’s portfolio. This sophisticated blend of Plavac Mali, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah is crafted with meticulously controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. During its early development, the wine matures for four months in oak barrels, enhancing its complexity and refined character.
