Testament Winery

Testament Winery is located in the heart of Dalmatia, a region with a two-thousand-year-old winemaking tradition, as evidenced by historical records and findings dating back to ancient Rome. The winery’s name is inspired by three historical testaments. The first is the hypocaust from the 2nd century, a heated chamber that the Romans used for ripening harvested grapes. The second consists of 102 ancient amphorae discovered at the bottom of the Adriatic Sea near Šibenik, once used for transporting wine and olive oil. The third is Machina Nova, an innovative grape press from the 16th century, invented by Faust Vrančić, a renowned innovator born near Šibenik. The winery’s tasting room is nestled in the small village of Jadrtovac, among picturesque hills overlooking the Adriatic Sea and the Šibenik archipelago. The vineyards are located in the renowned wine-growing region of Northern Dalmatia, near the historic city of Šibenik, where indigenous grape varieties thrive – Pošip, Maraština, Debit, Tribidrag, Plavac Mali, and Babić. The winery offers ten wine labels, four of which are made from Babić, while their 2019 Pošip vintage was awarded a gold medal at the prestigious Decanter competition. Their wines consistently receive gold and silver accolades at Decanter’s tastings, affirming their exceptional quality and unique terroir. In addition to winemaking, the winery cultivates olive trees and produces premium olive oil. The winery’s chief oenologist, Juraj Sladić, is dedicated to crafting wines that authentically reflect the rich heritage and distinctive character of the Dalmatian wine-growing region.
