Vinas Mora Winery

Vinas Mora represents a unique supergroup of the Croatian wine scene, established in Primošten as a joint project of Krešo Petreković, who works for a leading U.S. importer of natural wines, Nik Đukan, and partly Marko Kovač, the organizer of the renowned natural wine festival in Vienna and a distributor for Brazil, France, and Asia. A key member of the team is also Neno Marinov, a well-known Primošten winemaker specializing in the authentic Primošten Babić. The winery was founded with the goal of showcasing the terroir through wine, sourcing grapes from vineyards located in spectacular but hard-to-reach locations. It produces five completely natural cuvées, with the uniqueness lying in the identical vinification process for all wines, while the terroir determines the final differences in character. The grapes are hand-harvested, fermented in small vats, pressed, and aged in PVC tanks, with a four-day maceration and 25% of the wine maturing in barrels. A minimal amount of sulfur is used only at the beginning of the process for protection. The aim is to preserve primary aromas while refining the wild and lively character of Babić through barrel aging. The winery offers five wine labels: Barbba – a blend of Lasina, Plavina, Debit, and Maraština, sourced from vineyards stretching from Šibenska Dubrava to Oklaj ; Kaamen 1 – a stylized name that reflects the vineyards of the Šibenik hinterland, including Blizna, Bristivica, and Vinovac ; Kaamen 3 – made from grapes grown on top-tier locations, including the former Kamen Suza vineyard, a site of extremely demanding conditions where vines grow from solid rock, requiring entirely manual labor without modern mechanization ; Andreis – crafted from grapes of the Primošten region, primarily from the Jadrtovac location. The project was launched in the midst of the 2020 pandemic when the agricultural cooperative Motika was founded. They took over the former cellar of Šibenik’s Vinoplod and purchased around 60 tons of Babić and other indigenous varieties from local vineyards. Without modern chemical interventions and through extensive manual labor, these five cuvées were created under the shared name Vinas Mora. Due to its unique terroir and authentic approach, most of the wines are intended for export, while in Croatia, they will be available for purchase at the winery of the Motika agricultural cooperative, which will soon open its doors to visitors.
