Wine Atlija

Atlija Winery is built on a centuries-old family tradition of viticulture, dating back to a time when the family was primarily connected to cooperatives. Over the past 20 years, however, they have been developing their own brand and distinctive identity. A key turning point came in 2018 with the construction of a modern winery and tasting room, further enhancing both the quality of production and the presentation of their wines.

Today, the winery cultivates a total of 4 hectares of vineyards spread across 11 locations. While this fragmentation makes production more demanding, it also contributes to the diversity of terroir and the authenticity of the wines. The vineyards are planted with indigenous varieties such as Vugava, Pošip, Rukatac, Trbljan (Kuc), Plavac Mali, and Crljenak Kaštelanski (Zinfandel), with some vines over 60 years old. The vineyards are located on red soils and sandy terrains of varying structure, while the specific climate of the island of Vis—with over 2,600 hours of sunshine per year, moderate conditions, and frequent winds—creates ideal conditions for growing high-quality grapes.

By combining tradition, knowledge, and modern oenological practices, Atlija Winery produces wines that meet the demands of the contemporary market while preserving the authentic character of their origin. Continuous investment in knowledge and development forms the foundation of their philosophy, with the goal of building long-term quality, recognition, and trust among customers.
