About winery
August Winery, located in Popovača, Moslavina, is a story that began in 2016 when it was taken over by Dijana and her husband Marko Sušac from her parents. The name of both the winery and restaurant comes from her grandfather, and the winery’s logo, a hedgehog, was designed and drawn by Croatian artist Marina Mesar, known by her artistic name OKO. The winery is located near the Lonjsko Polje Nature Park, and less than 4 km from the vineyard, the remains of a Roman vineyard were discovered, testifying to the centuries-old wine tradition of the area. With 8,000 vines, the winery cultivates the indigenous Škrlet, as well as Graševina, Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Frankovka. The wines are carefully nurtured in the cellar and bottled as top-quality single-varietal wines or blends, with a modern touch provided by enologist Tomislav Veseljak, who gained his expertise in California and France. The winery’s offer includes labels such as Škrlet, August Ignis, Frankovka (the only red wine label), Pinot Blanc, Graševina, and Sauvignon Blanc. In addition to the winery, the August restaurant is part of the estate, where visitors can enjoy wine tastings paired with a gastronomic experience that perfectly complements the wines.
