Barun Winery

Barun Winery, located in the picturesque Valley of the Cardinals near Krašić, is a family-run venture led by the Barundić family. Owner Josip Barundić was born and raised in France and returned to Croatia with his family at the age of twelve. Driven by a desire to elevate the family winemaking tradition, he and his wife Mara lovingly and diligently tend to the vineyards each year, often by hand due to the steep terrain. Their vineyards lie in exceptional locations such as Kremenica, which produces their Chardonnay Seigneur 2019, and the land owned by the Parish of the Holy Trinity in Krašić—once cultivated by Blessed Alojzije Stepinac—where the distinguished Pinot Noir Cardinal 2016 is grown. Today, Barun Winery offers ten labels. Among their sparkling wines are Perle Noir (a red sparkling Pinot Noir from 2017), Elegance from Manzoni, the aromatic and sweeter Amoureux from Muscat, Le Rosé from Pinot Noir, and the exclusive 100+, made from grapes grown in a vineyard over 100 years old near Gorice. This unique vineyard includes more than ten traditional grape varieties such as Štajerska Belina, Graševina, Kraljevina, White Muscat, Yellow Muscat, Plavec Žuti, and Plemenka. Their still wines include Graševina, Manzoni, and Marquiz—a refined Pinot Noir. Barun wines embody passion, tradition, and a deep respect for the land and the rich history of the Krašić region.
