Bodren Winery

Bodren Winery is located in the picturesque village of Hum na Sutli, nestled on the gentle slopes of Hrvatsko Zagorje – a region known for its ecologically pristine environment and ideal conditions for viticulture. Owner Boris Drenški recognized the microclimatic potential of his homeland, particularly the pronounced acidity in the grapes, which he skillfully turned into an advantage for producing predicate wines. Instead of being a flaw, the acidity perfectly balances the sweetness in his wines, making them fresh, elegant, and enjoyable. What began as a chance encounter with predicate wines grew into a passionate commitment to the most ecologically sustainable form of winemaking. Over more than a decade, this dedication has yielded remarkable results. Bodren Winery proudly holds numerous awards, including six gold, eight silver, and six bronze medals from the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards in London. Among them, the Bodren Ice Wine 2009 stands out, having won the Regional Trophy and ranked among the Top 10 sweet wines in the world. In 2012, the winery expanded its vineyards to a total of 30,000 vines, cultivating white and grey Pinot, Chardonnay, Rhine Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Rizvanac, Traminer, and Yellow Muscat. The winery offers nine carefully crafted labels, all aiming to reflect the ideal of their signature ice wine – fresh, aromatic, and harmonious, with low alcohol content and a high residual sugar level, delivering a truly refined tasting experience.
