Đurinski Winery, located in Hruševec Kupljenski near Zaprešić, is led by Stjepan Đurinski – a small-scale winemaker known for producing exceptional wines. Although his wife Marica, son Mario, and daughter-in-law Andrea all play important roles in the family’s wine story, Stjepan looks to the future with hope that his grandchildren will one day carry on his legacy. To inspire them, he named some of his wines after them – the ice harvest of Graševina and Traminer is called Leona, while the blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Blaufränkisch bears the playful name Veseli Tonček. Aside from numerous prestigious awards from competitions such as Decanter, the International Wine Challenge, and AWC Vienna, Stjepan is also known for the unusual fact that he – does not drink wine at all. The Đurinski family began wine production in 2003. Initially using purchased grapes, they planted their own vineyards in 2005 on the Kosovčak and Zanovače sites, now home to 4,700 vines over two hectares. The winery currently produces around 18,000 bottles annually – 70% white wines, 10% red, 20% dessert wines, and 3% sparkling wines. Their offering also includes Rhine Riesling, Yellow Muscat, Traminer, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Blaufränkisch.
