Horvat Winery

Horvat Winery from Sveti Urban, led by Robert Horvat, is a family venture with deep roots. His love for viticulture was instilled by his grandfather Josip Hudin, and the decision to fully dedicate the family to winemaking came when Robert’s father, Vladimir, lost his job. Today, Robert cultivates 6.5 hectares of vineyards, growing varieties such as Pušipel, Sauvignon, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Yellow Muscat, and Graševina, producing 70,000 to 80,000 liters of wine annually. He stands out as a guardian of the Pušipel variety. In cooperation with the Faculty of Agriculture and the Hortus Croatiae winemakers’ association—where he serves as president—he developed a clonal selection from 32 variants of Pušipel, of which five were chosen to establish a certified mother vineyard. Among his wines, 279 stands out—named after the vineyard’s altitude, the number of days from pruning to harvest, days of barrel aging, and the exact number of bottles produced. Another unique wine is K32, created from all 32 Pušipel clones blended and aged in a single barrique barrel.
