Jančar Winery

Zoran Jančar did not come from a winemaking family tradition, nor was he expected to continue a family wine legacy. He started with a one-hectare newly planted vineyard, which was not enough to fully dedicate himself to winemaking. Zoran produces varietal wines from three indigenous varieties – Škrlet, Moslavac, and Dišeća Ranina. Škrlet and Cabernet Sauvignon became the economic foundation of his winery, while Moslavac and Dišeća Ranina are the “passion projects” of his cellar, made out of love and pleasure. With wines made from these two varieties, Zoran has been a champion at the Wine Exhibition in Kutina, winning gold medals at Sabatini, and has started receiving impressive ratings of 94+ points for his wines. Zoran jokingly calls himself the world’s largest producer of Dišeća Ranina with just 1,500 vines in his vineyard, and the only winemaker producing a varietal wine from this grape.
