Knehtl-Medenjak Winery

Knehtl-Medenjak Winery is located in the village of Sveti Urban, where Stanko and Zdenka Medenjak represent the third generation of winemakers continuing the Knehtl family tradition established in 1927. Zdenka inherited her love for viticulture from her late father Vladimir, who himself had inherited the vineyards from his parents and continued cultivating them and producing wine in small quantities. Their daughter Vlatka, currently a student at the Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb, is gradually taking over the family business. On 4 hectares of vineyards located in Sveti Urban and Železna Gora, the family grows Riesling, Green Silvaner, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon, Šipon (Furmint), and Welschriesling. Their wines stand out with a unique blend called “Urbansko”, for which they hold a designation of controlled origin, as well as for their Green Silvaner and Riesling.
