About winery
Korak Winery, located on the scenic slopes of Plešivica near Jastrebarsko, has been family-owned for generations. Although long active in winemaking and hospitality, the family recently made a bold step forward by rebranding their identity and opening a modern winery and restaurant. In the early 1990s, Velimir Korak, a trained oenologist, began developing the family winery more seriously. In the 2000s, together with his wife Mirjana, he opened a small tasting room where visitors could enjoy food alongside their wines. Today, the winery and restaurant are the result of the vision and work of the fourth and fifth generations of the Korak family. Leading the new chapter is Bernard Korak, Velimir’s son, who turned away from a career in construction to pursue his passion for cooking. After gaining experience in Michelin-starred restaurants, he returned home to merge his culinary expertise with the family wine business. Alongside him are his sister Vera and brother Josip, while their parents remain an essential part of the team.
Korak cultivates six hectares of organic vineyards on some of Plešivica’s best south-facing slopes, at elevations between 350 and 400 meters. They grow white varieties such as Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris, as well as red varieties including Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Portugizer. The winery produces small batches of high-quality wines that reflect the region’s unique terroir.
Korak is also known as a pioneer in natural winemaking, having released their first sulfite-free wine in 2015. Today, they produce wines in a range of styles — still, sparkling, and amber — many of which have won prestigious local and international awards. The family estate includes a renovated farmhouse dating back to 1900, now home to a modern winery, fine-dining restaurant, and event space for private and business gatherings. The Korak family offers guests a unique experience that blends exceptional wine, authentic cuisine, and heartfelt hospitality rooted in deep family tradition.
