Kovač Winery

Kovač Winery, run by Sanja and Stanko Kovač, is located in Prekopa, just a few kilometers from Štrigova. Their wine story is rooted in family tradition, started by Stanko’s parents, Marija and the late Franjo, who engaged in diverse farming, including grape growing. Sanja and Stanko chose to focus solely on viticulture and, about twenty years ago, established their own OPG Kovač and built the winery. Today, they cultivate around 4 hectares of vineyards, growing a wide range of grape varieties: riesling, graševina, chardonnay, sauvignon, yellow muscat, pinot blanc, pušipel, traminer, cabernet sauvignon, and pinot noir. Their wines are easily recognized by the label featuring an old wooden wine press, which still works and will soon be part of their new tasting room. They mainly sell their wines directly and in local venues across Međimurje, Varaždin, and Zagreb. Their Pušipel Classic won a silver medal in London with an impressive 93 points.
