Lovrec Winery

The Lovrec wine estate is nestled among the picturesque hills of Sv. Urban, within the municipality of Štrigova, a place known since ancient times as Stridon. It is a multi-generational winemaking and viticulture tradition, revived in the 1990s by Professor Franjo Lovrec – a wine knight, educator, and passionate promoter of wine knowledge and culture. The winery embraces boutique wine production, rooted in tradition and a nature-friendly approach to vineyard work. In the past fifteen years, the estate has been led by his son Krešimir, a true artisan winemaker, who devotes great care to cultivating the Central European varietals recommended as early as 1847 by German and Austrian viticultural experts – standards still valued today. Lovrec wines have carried the organic label for many years, with the greatest attention dedicated to vineyard practices – where true winemaking begins. Their portfolio includes: Vivace Sparkling Wine (brut) from Grüner Silvaner, Libiamo Sparkling Wine, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Yellow Muscat, Viteško Crno (a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah), and Merlot.
