St. Jerome Winery

St. Jerome Winery is located in the heart of the Međimurje wine region, in Štrigova. It was founded on the foundations of the Štrigova Cellar, which was purchased in 2019 by the Kišiček family from Varaždin. After five years of investments, facility renovations, the hiring of new staff, and the introduction of modern viticulture and winemaking practices, the winery was renamed St. Jerome. The name is inspired by Saint Jerome, born in ancient Stridon (today’s Štrigova), symbolizing a new beginning, while also representing the long tradition of winemaking in Međimurje.
St. Jerome Winery now spans around 65 hectares of vineyards, where indigenous and international varieties prevail, including Pušipel, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Muscat, Traminer, Graševina, Riesling, and Green Sylvaner. To develop both the vineyards and winemaking, the winery engaged Klemen Junger, a young yet experienced enologist from Slovenia, who gained experience in leading Austrian wineries and is well-acquainted with the potential of the Međimurje wine region.
The winery offers several wine lines: the Charactere line, which includes typical Međimurje wines such as Pušipel, Chardonnay, Green Sylvaner, and Sauvignon, the Polemica line with Graševina, Riesling, Yellow Muscat, Muscat Ottonel, and Traminer Prestige, as well as the Borealis sparkling wine line, which currently includes Chardonnay Blanc. They earned a prestigious gold medal at the 2024 Decanter competition for their Traminer Prestige from the Polemica line.
The winery is led by Karlo Kramar, the grandson of the owner, Rudolf Kišiček, who continues the family winemaking tradition.
