Statera Winery

Statera Winery tells a story of love for vineyards and wine, passed down through generations of the Kotolenko family. Its foundations were laid by Viktor Kotolenko and his wife Terezija, who began cultivating the first vines of varieties such as Graševina, Sauvignon, Šipon, Chardonnay, and Yellow Muscat. In the 1990s, the family winery, then called “Vinogradarstvo Vinski hram,” was taken over by their son Slavko and his wife Marija. They continued to develop the estate, which at the time also offered rural tourism. With the birth of sons Domen and Gregor, the family gradually shifted focus solely to winemaking. Gregor, the youngest, has been involved in the winery since childhood and now proudly continues the family tradition. The winery has undergone many milestones – from the construction of the hand-built wine cellar in 1967, planting of the first modern terraced vineyard in 1985, to the launch of the new brand Statera in 2020. Today, the Kotolenko family’s vineyards cover 14 hectares, located in two winegrowing regions – Styria in eastern Slovenia (9 ha) and Zagorje-Međimurje in northwestern Croatia (5 ha). These vineyards are just 100 meters apart and lie on steep slopes with gradients of up to 45%. The name “Statera,” meaning balance, symbolizes the winery’s philosophy – a blend of tradition, expertise, and modern technology. The winery currently offers two wine lines. Statera Elegant includes Statera Rose (Pinot Noir) and Statera Muškat (Yellow Muscat), while the Statera Single Vineyard line features four labels from Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, and Šipon. Guests are welcome to visit the vineyards and cellar and enjoy wine tastings that reflect the spirit of the land, the family, and the heritage behind each bottle.
