Babos Winery

Giacometti-Moscarda, the most prominent family winery in Vodnjan, is known in the market under the brand “Babos,” named after a historic part of Vodnjan where the winery is located. The first generation to start the winery were nona Livia and nono Claudio, succeeded by their daughter Lorella and her husband Guglielmo. Today, the winery is led by the third generation, their sons Matteo, who is the winemaker, and Luca, who oversees marketing.
Babos currently offers 7 wine labels and cultivates 10 hectares of vineyards surrounding Vodnjan. The predominant varieties include istrian malvasia, teran, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and muscat rosé. Notably, they produce excellent Charmat sparkling wines and the traditional dessert wine of Vodnjan, “Vin de Rosa,” made from dried berries of istrian malvasia and muscat rosé.
