Damjanić Winery

The story begins in the early 18th century when the Jurković family started planting vineyards in Fuškulin near Poreč. Through years of dedicated work, they became one of the leading wineries in the region. In 1928, they won the Grand Prix and a gold medal at the EXPOSITION DU BIEN-ETRE in Paris for their red wine. Most of their produced wine was exported to Trieste, where it was highly appreciated. By the end of World War II, the family cultivated 30 hectares of agricultural land, 20 of which were vineyards.
Post-war political changes were not favorable to entrepreneurship, and the Jurković family lost their estates during nationalization, ending their centuries-old winemaking tradition.
After fifty years of hiatus, at the beginning of the new millennium, their descendants, specifically the Damjanić family, began replanting vineyards on the same fertile lands.
Through 15 years of persistent work, the Damjanić family now manages 10.5 hectares of vineyards and a modern winery, where young enologist Ivan Damjanić applies his acquired knowledge and passion for winemaking. They plan to expand their vineyards, with a special focus on Istrian Malvasia and Borgonja, a traditional Istrian variety.
The Damjanić family uses the most modern technology in wine production, evidenced by the medals won at domestic and international competitions. Their development strategy is based on a traditionally high-quality approach in both the vineyard and the winery.
