Mario Banko Winery

The Mario Banko family winery is located in the village of Bašići, halfway between Poreč and Pazin, near Tinjan. In 1995, Mario Banko planted new vineyards on the red soil surrounding Bašići, and by 2007, he began dedicating himself more seriously to winemaking. His passion for wine has become a family endeavor, with support from his wife and son, Toni, who manages the family restaurant in Zelena Laguna near Poreč.
Today, the winery cultivates three hectares of vineyards, focusing on indigenous grape varieties such as Istrian Malvasia, Teran, and Hrvatica, while also growing well-known international varieties like White Muscat, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Their presence in the market includes seven wine labels, with notable mentions like the fresh istrian malvasia and the cuvée “Sveti Šimun,” dedicated to the patron saint of Tinjan. Besides wines, they also offer six labels of spirits and one label of extra virgin olive oil.
