The Matošević Winery, located near the picturesque Istrian village of Kruničići, benefits from the region’s ideal terroir, characterized by a Mediterranean climate, diverse soils, and proximity to the Adriatic Sea. Established in 1996 by Ivica Matošević, the winery has gained international acclaim for producing high-quality wines made from both indigenous and international grape varieties. The Matošević vineyards are situated in two locations: the first near the villages of Buje and Krasica in the northwestern part of Istria, and the second near the town of Pazin, known as Grimalda. This Grimalda vineyard yields the best grapes for the winery’s two flagship labels, Grimalda White and Grimalda Red. Both labels are blends of indigenous Istrian varieties, such as Istrian Malvasia and Teran, along with international varieties like Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot.
