Medea Winery

Winery Medea, located in the south of Istria in Vodnjan, a small town near Pula, is one of the leading Istrian wineries. Its rich journey began in 1954 as a modest cooperative winery that brought together local producers. Through privatization in the 1990s, the winery transitioned into independent ownership, allowing it to develop its own identity and brand. The year 2006 marks the creation of the Medea brand, symbolizing a new era in wine production where tradition and innovation became synonymous.
Medea Winery produces wines exclusively from grapes that come from its own vineyards located on 60 hectares of land between Pula and Medulin. The largest vineyard is located in the micro-location Ševe, called Montiron, which stands out for the indigenous Istrian variety – malvasia.
The most significant vineyard of Medea Winery is located on the southeast side of Cape Marlera, south of Ližnjan, in a micro-location known as Punta Greca. The soil of Punta Greca, marked by a mixture of sand, clay, and red soil, provides ideal conditions for grapevine cultivation. In this location, the winery has planted the merlot variety, resulting in the creation of one of the best croatian wines of that variety bottled under the name “Punta Greca.”
Medeas wine portfolio includes six labeled wines, which encompass varieties of Istrian Malvasia, Teran, Refosco, Merlot, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.
At Medea Winery, which spans 1000 square meters, guests have the opportunity to enjoy guided tastings of their wines. The winery includes a cellar with a capacity of 400,000 liters, equipped with state-of-the-art technologies that enable the creation of unique and passionate wines, with the leading role in wine production played by acclaimed oenologist Marko Krstačić.
