Meneghetti Winery

A tradition spanning three centuries began in 1865 when Meneghetti, the estate owner, planted grapevines and olive trees to supply the large Austrian military fortress nearby. Modern history starts in 2000, when the place became a family retreat. The exquisitely renovated estate, built on the foundations of old architecture, became the nucleus and origin of future ambitious projects.
The first wine from the Meneghetti house was released in 2008 from the 2003 harvest. As the Meneghetti name became increasingly recognized in the market, the need for luxury accommodation to complete the story arose.
Meneghetti Wine Hotel & Winery was built on the foundations of century-and-a-half-old buildings, which today symbolize luxury, peace, and tranquility. Currently, Meneghetti has 10 hectares of its own vineyards in two locations: around the Meneghetti Estate in Val Gambalera, Bale, and in Kršin-Ferne near Buje. New vineyards are also being planted. All vineyards are cultivated sustainably, using the Simonit & Sirch method. Pruning is soft, always manual, with the aim of preserving the plants so they can reach old age.
At the Meneghetti location, both local and international varieties are planted, including Istrian Malvasia and Malvasia of Dubrovnik, as well as premium red varieties like Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Under the expert guidance of Walter Filiputti, Meneghetti’s top winemaker, long-term success in the wine market has been achieved, which logically led to the idea of a new cellar.
Today, that idea has been realized to the satisfaction of wine lovers. From two labels and 6,000 bottles, the Meneghetti winery now produces 14 labels and nearly 100,000 bottles annually.
