Poleis Winery

Although the Poleis family from the village of Markovac near Višnjan has long been involved in agriculture, their modern history began in the early 1990s. Ivan Poleis Sr. embarked on vineyard renewal, soon joined by his son Ivan Poleis Jr., who left the hospitality industry to help build a modern cellar in the family home and elevate the business to a new level. After his father’s passing, Ivan Poleis Jr. took over with support from his wife Vesna and daughter Ilaria.
Today, they cultivate four hectares of vineyards and one hectare of olive trees on deep red soil. Their vineyard is dominated by varieties such as istrian malvasia, chardonnay, white muscat, teran, cabernet sauvignon, borgonja, and teran. They offer seven wine labels on the market, with particular demand for freshiIstrian malvasia, elegant rosé, and aged istrian malvasia “San Marco.”
