In the beautiful surroundings of the istrian region, in the small village of Vižinada, lies the Rossi Winery. Its roots date back to 1885, when it was founded by Federico Rossi, the great-grandfather of the owner, Luka Rossi. From the very beginning, Rossi Winery has been involved in the production of spirits. In the 1980s, the Rossi family intensified its focus on winemaking as its main activity when Marino Rossi, Luka’s father, joined the business. At that time, their wines became increasingly sought after in the markets, especially in neighboring Slovenia, where the growing demand for quality Istrian wines opened up new opportunities. In the 1990s, interest in their wines continued to grow, and significant quantities of bulk wines found their way to traders in Trieste.
However, the Rossi family did not stop at wine products alone. As they entered the new millennium, they set a new vision, and their family brand became synonymous with top quality and excellence in the world of wines and spirits. Marino Rossi proudly handed over the management of the family business to his eldest son, Luka Rossi, thus continuing the rich family tradition.
Luka, Marko, and Filip Rossi represent the lively and innovative spirit driving Rossi Winery forward. As brothers, they make up a dynamic trio, each bringing their unique talent and perspective to the family business.
Luka Rossi, also the president of Vinistra, the association of istrian winemakers, plays a key role in promoting and protecting Istrian wine culture, emphasizing the importance of tradition and sustainability in wine production. With his expertise and dedication, Luka continues to make an indelible mark in the world of wine, bringing Istrian wines to the global stage.
Marko Rossi takes on the role of head winemaker at the winery, which produces over 100,000 liters of wine.
Filip Rossi, a sommelier by profession, is responsible for retail and organizing tastings.
In their rich wine portfolio, Rossi Winery prides itself on a wide range of indigenous and international varieties that reflect the excellence of Istrian viticulture. Indigenous varieties such as Istrian Malvasia and Teran represent the heart and soul of their offer, while varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay add to the diversity and complexity of their wines.
Rossi wines are crafted with love and care in nine beautiful vineyard locations, where growing conditions are ideal for achieving optimal grape ripeness and quality. Each location brings its unique terroir, reflected in the character and taste of their wines.
Rossi Winery is adorned with numerous awards and recognitions won at international wine competitions. For example, their flagship wine, Rossi Istrian Malvasia from 2022, won a gold medal at the prestigious Decanter competition with an impressive 95 points, confirming the outstanding quality and elegance of Rossi wines.
