Academicum Winery

The Academic Wines of Zlatna Dolina are produced in the teaching base of the Faculty of Rural Development in Požega, part of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. The facility includes wine cellar spaces, tasting rooms, storage for wine, agricultural machinery, fertilizers, and classrooms. It is directly and functionally connected to the teaching vineyard polygon located on the southern slopes of Papuk, near the village of Podgorje in the Kutjevo wine region. With a 20-year tradition of wine production, under the supervision of scientists and students, the winery offers numerous grape varieties such as Graševina, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Muscat Yellow, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, and other international cultivars. Wine production is organized through the spin-off company Vinum Academicum d.o.o., following European business trends. Wines are aged in Slavonian and French oak, and the annual production amounts to about 35,000 liters. The winery collaborates with enologist Josip Mesić, as well as associates Jasna Del Vecchio, Ivan Malčić, and Daniel Klemenić.
