Dragun Winery

Dragun Winery from Ilok began its winemaking journey in 1975 with small vineyards, continuing the family tradition started by the father of founders Zvonimir and Vladimir Dragun. His love for vineyards and wine for family needs laid the foundation for today’s modern winery. Unfortunately, the war in 1991 forced the Dragun family into exile, and they returned to Ilok only in 1998. The true new beginning came in 2005 when the winery started serious wine production under its own label and joined the Iločka Wine Road Association. Over the years, production expanded, and with Dinko Dragun, Vladimir’s son, leading the winery, the long-standing family vision was realized. Today, the winery owns 12 hectares of vineyards and produces more than 120,000 liters of wine annually. The production is dominated by white grape varieties: graševina, riesling, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, and traminac, with a special focus on graševina. Among red varieties, they cultivate cabernet sauvignon and merlot. All grapes come exclusively from their own vineyards, ensuring the wine’s authenticity and uniqueness. The white wines are full-bodied, extract-rich, and fruity, while the red wines are powerful, rich, and infused with notes of forest fruits, cherry, and plum. Dragun Winery is now a modern facility, using advanced technological methods for processing, fermentation, and wine aging. Its quality has been recognized with numerous awards, most notably the championship title for the 2017 traminac at the “Vinin 2019” Wine and Delicacies Festival. The winery’s symbol – a dragon in the logo and the inscription “Nomen est omen” – reflects the connection between the Dragun surname and the English word “dragon,” emphasizing the strength, passion, and dedication that the winery puts into every bottle of its wine.
