Enjingi Winery

Continuing the centuries-old tradition of vine growing and winemaking inherited from his ancestors, Ivan Enjingi passionately crafts premium wines on the slopes of Krndija, in the heart of the world-renowned Kutjevo wine region. His story began with his grandfather’s vineyards in 1890, when Koloman Enjingi planted the first vines of Graševina and Kadarka in Hrnjevac, laying the foundation for a prestigious family winemaking tradition. The love for vineyards and the secrets of the cellar were passed down through generations. His son Martin carried on the family legacy, and his grandson Vaclav preserved it through challenging political and wartime periods. Finally, in 1957, Ivan Enjingi took over the vineyards, tending to around 2,000 vines, and diligently expanded production. In 1972, he boldly broke with the tradition of selling wine in barrels and introduced exclusively bottled wines, marking the beginning of a new, modern era for the family winery. His vineyards, with an average age of 15 years, are situated on sunlit southern slopes of Krndija, thriving on exceptional soils—loamy, sandy-loamy, and rocky, with a base of schist and granite. Older vineyards, over 35 years old, are carefully preserved for their exceptional grape quality, while new plantings are densely arranged, reaching up to 8,500 vines per hectare. This cultivation method ensures a low yield—less than one kilogram of grapes per vine—resulting in wines of outstanding quality. With an average yield of 7–8 tons per hectare, and in special harvests even less than 5 tons, Enjingi’s vineyards bring out the best in premium varieties—Graševina, Rhine Riesling, Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Muscat Traminac, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Riesling Italico. The winery offers a total of nine wine labels and proudly holds the distinction of being the first Croatian winemaker to win the prestigious Decanter Gold award.
