Erdut Winery

Erdut Vineyards Ltd. was established on the foundations of the Industrial Agricultural Complex Osijek, which set the development framework for the winery in the second half of the 20th century. The largest single-plot vineyard in Croatia was formed, making the Erdut wine region synonymous with top-quality wine production. Construction of the modern winery, with a capacity of 6 million liters, began in 1980 and was completed in 1984. From the very beginning, the winery focused on processing grapes from its own plantations and purchasing from small producers. To create a recognizable symbol of the Erdut wine region, the world’s largest wine barrel in use was built in 1989. Made of Slavonian oak with a total capacity of 75,000 liters, the barrel is always filled with Graševina – the dominant variety of the region and a trademark of Erdut Vineyards Ltd. The winery is located on the gentle slopes of Dalj Mountain, surrounded by the Danube River, which shapes Erdut into a peninsula. The vineyards lie at an altitude of 130 to 190 meters, on loess deposits that provide ideal conditions for grape cultivation. Spanning 450 hectares, the vineyards form the largest plantation in Croatia. White grape varieties dominate, covering 75% of the area, with Graševina being the most prevalent (280 hectares), followed by Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Traminac, and Riesling. Red varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Blaufränkisch, and Zweigelt, make up the remaining 25%. The winery offers four wine lines – “New Line,” “Premium Series,” “Selected Series,” and “Classic Series,” featuring a total of 18 wine labels. Over the years, Erdut Vineyards Ltd. wines have received numerous accolades, including prestigious awards at the Decanter competition in 2023:
