About winery

Josić wines are crafted from authentic Baranja grape varieties that thrive on Banova Kosa, a region the ancient Romans called the “Golden Hill” due to the exceptional wines produced on its slopes. The Josić family’s winemaking story began in 1999 when they purchased an old wine cellar in Baranja, built in 1935 and 42 meters long. They carefully restored it, preserving its traditional character while equipping it with modern technology. At the same time, they acquired 1.6 hectares of old vineyards. Today, the winery produces a diverse selection of premium red and white wines from varieties such as Graševina, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Muškat Žuti, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Syrah, Alicante Bouschet, Sauvignon Blanc, and Traminac. Josić wines are renowned for their exceptional quality, earning numerous gold medals and awards for both their taste and distinctive label designs, which feature rare and endangered bird species native to the region. Their first major successes came in 2002 at the “Slavin” wine exhibition, where wines from the 2001 vintage won gold, silver, and bronze for Graševina, Pinot Sivi, and a blend of red varieties. In 2004, Graševina received a gold medal for quality, while its label design won the champion plaque at the “Gast” fair in Split, competing against 365 exhibitors from across the region. The winery’s tasting room is housed in one of Baranja’s traditional gator cellars, located next to the restaurant, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere where guests can savor exceptional wines. The cellar maintains a constant temperature of 12 to 15 degrees Celsius, ensuring optimal wine storage and a perfect balance between tradition and modern winemaking technology.
