About winery
Kaptol Winery, named after an ancient medieval fortress, is located in the heart of Slavonia, at the foot of Mount Papuk. What makes this winery unique is that it is predominantly run by women – mother Nataša and daughter Barbara Ljevar. Their wine story began with courage and passion – in just three months, they transformed an old shed into a modern distillery and turned the land behind their house into a flourishing oasis. While most wineries in the region are built on generational tradition, the Ljevar family decided to create their own – driven by a deep love for wine. The winery produces around 50,000 liters of wine annually, with the majority dedicated to Graševina, the queen of Slavonian vineyards. A new wine cellar with six times the current capacity is under construction, and their ambitions extend beyond wine – plans are underway to open the first boutique hotel in Slavonia. Kaptol Winery offers six distinct labels. Among the premium wines are Cuvee, an elegant blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, as well as Sauvignon Blanc and Graševina. Their selection also includes high-quality wines such as Rosé, classic Graševina, and Crna, a refined blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. With their expertise, dedication, and vision, the Ljevar family is shaping a new wine legacy in the Kutjevo wine region.
