About winery
In the heart of Orahovica, a region with a rich winemaking tradition, the prestigious Martin Albus brand has emerged, steadily winning over wine enthusiasts. This exclusive line from Orahovica Winery includes six labels: Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Silvanac Zeleni, Grand Cuvée, a blend of Graševina and Silvanac Zeleni, Rosé, and Frankovka, while the late harvest Jezerac is part of the regular PP Orahovica line. Although Martin Albus may sound like a personal name, it actually refers to two premium vineyard locations – Martin and Albus – where grapevines have been revitalized. The wines are produced following the single vineyard principle, catering to an audience eager to explore new wine experiences. The history of these locations dates back to the 19th century when nobleman Martin Nagy owned the first wine cellar in Orahovica, renowned for its exceptional Frankovka. On the other hand, G. Albus was the vintner responsible for tending to these vineyards. The Martin Albus line was conceptualized by the winery’s director, Ivan Perković, a seasoned expert in the Croatian wine industry who previously played a key role in positioning the Korlat brand. Winemaking is led by Luka Radiček, a talented young oenologist who also worked on Korlat wines. By introducing new strategies and reducing yields, the quality of the wines has been significantly elevated, leading to a revival of Orahovica Winery. Over the past few years, the white wines from the Martin Albus edition have won numerous Decanter medals and have found their way onto the wine lists of many restaurants and hotels. The vineyard restoration, initiated seven years ago, is now bearing its first significant fruits. For the first time in its history, the winery sold over 100,000 bottles of premium wine in a single year. Additionally, within just the first two harvests, it secured five Decanter medals, firmly establishing itself among the leading wine producers in the region.
