Mons Aureus Winery, meaning “Golden Mountain,” is located in the heart of Baranja, a region rich in winemaking tradition. It stretches from Croatia’s eastern border, from the Danube to the Baranja hills, where it cultivates four carefully selected grape varieties on 9 hectares of vineyards: Baranja’s signature Graševina, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, and Merlot. Mons Aureus wines reflect the unique terroir from which they originate, blending tradition with a modern approach to winemaking. The winery offers seven labels – four red and three white wines. Among the reds, Kadarka stands out as an almost forgotten variety with a rich history, followed by Merlot, Cuvée (a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah), and Cabernet Sauvignon Barrique. White wine lovers can enjoy Chardonnay, Graševina, and Pinot Grigio. The winery is run by the Čerina family, led by Ivan Čerina, who, together with his descendants, restored their ancestral land and gave it new life. Their passion for wine is reflected in every detail, from vineyard care to the final bottled product. The fusion of tradition and modern vision is best experienced at the “Mons Aureus – wine and more” wine shop, located in a beautifully restored stone house in Solin, known as Arnirovi dvori. Situated at 6 Zvonimirova Street, this elegant wine shop offers a rich selection of Baranja wines and a story that connects the past and the present.
