Pinkert Winery

The wine story of Pinkert Winery began in the early 20th century with the planting of the first vines and the creation of a small family cellar on the slopes of Bansko Brdo, in the village of Suza in Baranja. This region, known since Roman times as Aureus Mons or the “Golden Hill,” has always been fertile ground for exceptional wines. It is on one of these historic wine routes that this winery was established, now spanning 11.5 hectares of vineyards with an average of 5,000 vines per hectare. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 198 meters, just a few minutes’ drive from the cellar through the gentle slopes of Bansko Brdo. The most prominent variety is Graševina, but the winery also cultivates Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Yellow, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Blaufränkisch (Frankovka). A special place in production is reserved for Cuvée, a blend of red varieties that embodies the terroir, the winemaker’s dedication, and the richness of the vineyards. The winery’s recognizable visual identity is inspired by the tulip, a flower symbolizing nature, beauty, and purity, with a shape reminiscent of a wine glass. Each wine label features a tulip in a color matching the variety, adding to the brand’s distinctiveness. For years, the winery was managed by Zoltan Pinkert, while his daughter Kristina played a key role in winemaking and branding, including the “Bouquet of Baranja” label. However, due to financial challenges, the winery recently changed ownership. The new owner, Hungarian entrepreneur Laszlo Lang, continues the winery’s tradition. The last two harvests were conducted under the guidance of winemaker Endre Kubik, with slight modifications to the visual identity, where tulip motifs still remain on the labels. Today, the winery offers eight wine labels: Graševina, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Yellow, Rosé, Cuvée, Blaufränkisch, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. In addition to winemaking, a tasting room has been built, and plans for a restaurant, initiated before the pandemic, are still in development. Pinkert Winery remains a place of rich wine tradition, blending innovation with deep respect for nature, offering wines that captivate with their character and the distinctive spirit of Baranja.
