Zajec Winery

The Zajec Family Cellar is located in Zmajevac and embodies a deep love for wine. A few years ago, spouses Klara and Danijel Zajec purchased an abandoned gator and carefully restored it. Today, they cultivate one hectare of vineyards with a strong focus on quality, selling. Their offer includes six wine labels: Graševina, Cuvée Red, Cuvée White, Traminac, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cuvée Rosé. Their offerings include Graševina and Cuvée Rosé. Their wine journey began in 2012 when they bought a house with a cellar in Klara’s hometown. Although they still live in Germany, they visit Baranja about ten times a year, enjoying both vineyard work and the beauty of the landscape. Their passion for wine started with renting rooms, where they offered local wines to guests. Over time, they began purchasing grapes and producing their own wine, eventually acquiring a vineyard of their own. Their story is further enriched by their daughter Dahlia, who, after completing her education in Germany, decided to move to Zmajevac and take over the family business. The bottles from Zajec Cellar are distinguished by labels featuring the motif of Crvena Marta (Red Marta). Although she remains in folklore as a ruthless ruler, the Zajecs portrayed her on the label as a sleeping girl, offering a gentler interpretation. The Zajec Cellar maintains close partnerships with experienced wineries in the village, particularly with Josić Winery, sharing a passion for producing premium Baranja wines.
